The Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is a historic preserve that offers lush grounds dating to before the Revolutionary War. Sit back and enjoy a train ride around the property or take the kids to its onsite zoo where they’re sure to find something they’ll love.

When you’re ready to do a bit of shopping and pick up some mementos for yourself or the friends back home, tour the Historic Charleston City Market. This four-block market is over 200 years old and offers an eclectic blend of shops and stores offering everything from handcrafted souvenirs to a variety of foods for everyone.

The South Carolina Aquarium is an excellent spot for everyone in the family, with hundreds of exotic fish and marine life on display. There are also many interactive exhibits that will keep you and kids busy for hours, making for a fun and educational experience!

Nearby John’s Island is the largest in the state of South Carolina and offers miles of beaches for relaxing, picnicking, and just soaking up the sun. The island’s mature trees provide lots of shade and stunning visual appeal as well as an amazing backdrop for photos to commemorate your trip.

Morris Island Lighthouse dates back to the Civil War era, and this stunning, classic red-and-white striped structure is one you cannot miss! The lighthouse itself is only accessible by boat but the ride is worth it once you see this beautiful, picturesque monument up close. Be sure to get lots of pictures as the beautiful coastline behind it makes for a stunning setting for any photo shoot.

If you love history and all things maritime, you’ll want to take a few minutes to tour the H.L. Hunley Submarine. This 19th century sub offers a glimpse into wartime efforts from so many decades ago, and is a favorite destination for tourists and especially the kids! Be sure to plan ahead and remember that tours are only offered on the weekends, so set aside a Saturday afternoon and enjoy the site of this structure both inside and out.

Folly Beach Pier is a nationally known attraction and favorite spot for fishing or just taking a walk by the ocean. The pier provides lots of room for amazing oceanfront views and also offers a tackle shop and everything else needed to spend a day on the water, searching for your favorite catch!
